For Schools
Inclusive education that works — for all learners
The SAND Project partners with schools to deliver high-quality inclusive education that supports learners with SEND and those at risk of disengagement.
Our expertise lies in practical, person-centred pedagogy that prepares young people for adulthood — and can be applied within mainstream as well as specialist settings.
SEND Expertise & Inclusive Pedagogy
SAND has extensive experience supporting learners who:
Have EHCPs or additional needs
Are neurodivergent
Experience anxiety, disengagement, or barriers to learning
While not qualification-focused by default, we are highly skilled at embedding National Curriculum objectives where appropriate, ensuring learning remains rigorous, purposeful, and accessible.
Our work translates curriculum intent into meaningful learning — without lowering expectations.
What We Do
-
Inclusive education does not mean removing learners from their setting to access support.
At SAND, inclusion means:
Designing learning that works for a wider range of learners
Adapting systems and pedagogy, not excluding individuals
Reducing the need for withdrawal or alternative placement
Supporting learners within their communities wherever possible
This approach challenges extractive models of inclusion and supports sustainable engagement.
-
Although rooted in SEND expertise, SAND’s pedagogy benefits all learners.
Our approach emphasises:
Practical, real-world learning
Purpose and relevance
Learner agency and responsibility
Enterprise, collaboration, and problem-solving
Preparation for adulthood and employment
-
We currently support schools through:
Post-16 transition planning
Annual Review contributions
Guidance on next-step provision
Support for learners who may not thrive in traditional FE routes
-
SAND offers a school-day enterprise programme where students:
Create and run a real enterprise
Learn through responsibility and teamwork
Earn money from profits generated
Build employability and life skills
This programme boosts engagement and demonstrates inclusive education in action.
-
For students aged 16+, SAND provides a specialist post-16 pathway focused on:
Preparation for adulthood
Employability and independence
Confidence and self-advocacy
Leaders in Inclusive Education
SAND is recognised for designing learning that prevents barriers rather than reacting to them, demonstrating that inclusion, academic intent, and adult outcomes can coexist.
